  • Shiatsu is also referred to as acupressure; this is because it is similar to acupuncture. This rubdown originated in Japan. The word Shiatsu translates to "finger pressure." Unlike acupuncture, no needles are used. Instead, the therapist uses his/her fingers on pressure points. It is believed that pushing these points results in releasing energy while restoring balance back to the mind and body.


People having any one of these types of rubdowns find that it helps to relax the body. This, in turn, helps to let go of tension and negative thoughts. They offer a variety of health benefits, including the relief of tension, improved circulation, and increased flexibility. It is known that massage therapy can work to manage stress in most people.

Rubdowns can be most beneficial to help you manage your condition. If you do not have a condition you can also just have a rubdown for pure enjoyment.
